BA Good Person with BA Ten Fidy

Alex Aviles came across a thread on social media discussing the high cost of an Oskar Blues beer, Bourbon Barrel Aged Ten Fidy. Reading through the comments stirred something up inside…he knew this beer was worth every penny people were spending on it, why not turn that into something good?  Alex had been trying to plan an event of some sorts for his restaurant’s keg of Ten Fidy, and finally, he knew what that something was…raise money for cancer.

His restaurant, Whym Craft Beer Café, is located on Route 1 in Portsmouth, NH. His beer-enthusiast Chef, ‘beertenders’, and line cooks work together as a family to bring a diverse draft line up and beer infused food.  Whym’s focus is to bring good beer to good people.

Their event is now on Facebook called “BA Good Person with BA Ten Fidy.” Visit Whym and “pay what you want” for a pour of this beloved beer. They are serious…pay what YOU want. ALL of it goes to cancer research. PLUS…if you donate $25 or more, you’ll be entered to win an Oskar Blues gift. The “pay what you want” event runs from February 7th to the 13th (or until the keg kicks).

Why cancer research? When asked why he chose cancer research, Alex’s reply was simple, it affects everyone in some way. “My family has been affected by cancer, my friends, our guests at Whym. It’s terrible, it’s heartbreaking. If we can raise money for something, we want it to be for cancer research.”

Alex Aviles, owner of Whym.

If you like beer and good karma, be sure to head to Whym.

Cheers!

A Beer Lover’s Winter Formal

slide1

Say what?

Well. It’s for real. We’ve ditched the ‘Ugly Sweater, Pretty Beers’ thing…but there will still be dressing up involved.

We’re throwing this party back…way back…to our high school days. Think awkward homecoming dances, semi-formals, and proms! Dress as awesomely as you did back then (the more ruffles….the better) OR come in a t-shirt and jeans, it’s your party.

Since this is a new event…we’re trying something new. This will be a ticketed event. Tickets will go on sale November 29th. $30 for one ticket, or $50 for a pair.
The ticket includes the following:
*Early access to Prost‘s TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARY PARTY!
*Buffet – appetizers, dinner, desserts, and more…all night! (The menu will be posted VERY soon.)
*Special Surprises
*Sweet tunes for some snowball dances (don’t pretend you don’t know what that means)
*An archway for your epic ‘formal’ picture with your date

Tickets can be purchased at Whym.
Co-Hosts: Prost and Allagash Brewing Company

A WHYM Wedding

Rustic.
Fun.
Craft Beer.
Dancing.
Beautiful.
Laughter.
Perfect.

These things created a wonderful day for Meghan and Matt!

When Matt and Meghan asked Alex if he knew of any wedding venues that served craft beer, somewhere that was capable of giving guests a rustic New Hampshire feel…he casually tossed out the idea of having it right there at Whym.  A year of planning, emails, and phone calls later…and we had the most fantastic event to date!

Meghan went all out, bringing so much beauty to the day.  Her centerpieces, gift table, and arch were insanely chic and rustic…and fit our little piece of New Hampshire perfectly.

The couple invited 150 of their closest friends and family, who all showed up in red, white, and blue (the couple’s theme).  The night was filled with laughs, hugs, dancing, and lawn games!

After the DJ played the final song of the night, we opened up the bar inside for guests who were staying at the Inn, and allowed the party to continue!

To Mr. and Mrs. Evans, CONGRATULATIONS again!  Thank you for choosing Whym for your special day!
