Our last featured classic this month traces its origins back to American Prohibition.
The Last Word is a truly magnificent cocktail featuring equal parts Gin, Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur, Green Chartreuse and lime juice. The balance that these four ingredients strike when blended together is nothing short of divine. Four our featured Last Word, were using Gledalough Wild Irish Gin. The heavy dose of herbal botanicals in this gin fit in with both the aggressively herbaceous Chartreuse and the bittersweet tones of the Luxardo, with the lime bringing in just the right amount of acidity to brighten the drink up.

Our next featured classic has definitely enjoyed a resurgence of popularity in recent years. This is, of course, the infamous Negroni.
Dating all the way back to 1919 Florence, this cocktail is both bold and simple. It’s just three ingredients in equal parts: Gin, sweet vermouth, and Campari. Making a good Negroni is easy enough, but making a great one requires finding just the right gin.
In our collection we’ve found that The Botanist Islay Dry Gin fits the bill splendidly, with bold and brash botanicals that cut through the bitter notes of Campari and the herbal tones of the sweet vermouth.
